Uganda trademark application?
A Trade Mark is a distinctive sign or mark that is registered and helps to distinguish certain goods or services produced or provided by an individual or a company in relation to other goods.
A Trademark may consist of any word, symbol, design, slogan, logo, sound, smell, color, label, name, signature, letter, numeral or any combination of them and should be capable of being represented graphically.
Required trademark forms in Uganda?
Some common trademark Forms include the following.
- Form TM 2 - Application for registration of a Trademark in Uganda.
- TM 28 - Request for Registrar’s Preliminary Advice as to distinctiveness or capability of distinguishing, by a person proposing to apply for the registration of a Trade Mark.

Trademark Registration procedure in Uganda
- Trademark Search A Search is conducted to establish whether the proposed trademark exists
- Application for registration of the trademark. The application must include the proposed trademark, the TM class and the name and address of the trademark applicant.
- Inspection and Examination of the proposed Trademark name and logo. The Examination shall determine if the proposed trademark is available and if it conflicts with any existing trademarks.
- Upon examination, the application is them published in the official government gazette for sixty days.
- If there is no opposition against the proposed trademark the registrar shall then register and issue the certificate of trademark registration to the applicant.
